Ottawa, Canada, November 4, 2026. RentalTide is now a certified OCTO supplier. On November 3, 2026, RentalTide's supplier API passed OCTO certification for the core specification and the octo/pricing and octo/content capabilities. Resellers, marketplaces and travel platforms that already connect over OCTO can now sell RentalTide operators' rentals, tours and charters, with live availability and instant confirmation, using the integration they already have.
What OCTO is
OCTO (Open Connectivity for Tours, Activities, and Attractions) is an open API standard for connecting the systems operators use to run their business with the resellers that sell their experiences: online travel agencies, marketplaces, concierge desks and booking platforms. A reseller that builds to OCTO once can connect to every certified supplier, instead of writing and maintaining a custom integration for each booking system.
What was certified
- The OCTO core specification: products, availability, holds, confirmed bookings, changes and cancellations.
octo/pricing: retail and net prices on products, availability and bookings, with taxes included.octo/content: each product's public title, description, features, FAQs, photos and locations.
The certificate is public. It lists RentalTide Inc. as a certified supplier at https://v3.api.rentaltide.com/octo/v1, and anyone can verify it on OCTO's site.
What it means for operators
- More places to sell, on your terms. Any reseller that speaks OCTO can sell your listings, but only once you connect them. You create each reseller's connection in Settings → OTAs & Resellers, choose which products they sell, and agree commission with them directly.
- No double bookings. Availability is counted against your real fleet, so the same boat, jet ski or ATV is never sold twice across your own booking page, your website and every reseller. A hold always checks live availability.
- Only what confirms instantly. Listings that need your approval, or services delivered to a customer's address, are left out of the feed.
- Your guests arrive ready. Every confirmed booking carries a voucher with the customer's pre-trip page for waivers and trip details, a check-in code and, where available, an Apple Wallet pass. Hires are redeemed from your manifest; tours by scanning the voucher.
- Your cancellation policy holds. A reseller can cancel through the API only up to the option's cutoff and only while your policy gives a full refund.
Resellers collect the retail price from the customer and pay you the net, retail less their commission, on their normal payout schedule. See every way RentalTide connects to the rest of your business on our integrations page.
Built for rentals, not only tickets
OCTO was designed around tours and timed tickets, and has no rental product type. RentalTide maps hire onto it: each bookable length of a rental becomes an option, a boat or jet ski sold per craft becomes a unit, daily hire uses opening-hours availability, and tour departures and package start times use start-time availability. That is what lets a reseller sell a two-hour pontoon rental through the same integration it uses for a walking tour.
For resellers and marketplaces
Point your existing OCTO integration at https://v3.api.rentaltide.com/octo/v1 with the key the operator gives you. Each operator is one supplier with its own key, and RentalTide does not charge resellers to connect. A sandbox with a demo operator, covering packaged, hourly and daily hire, a seat-sold cruise, a tour with adult and child tickets and a private charter, is available at partners.rentaltide.com. The full reference is in the OCTO Supplier API documentation.
What comes next
Webhook notifications (octo/notifications), pickups, dropoffs and promotions are not supported yet. Until notifications ship, resellers poll availability for changes.
