Accessibility statement

    Last updated:

RentalTide should work for everyone who books a rental, runs a rental business, or wants to learn about our product, including people who use assistive technology. This statement explains what we aim for, what is in place today, where we still fall short, and how to reach us.

    Our accessibility goals

Accessibility is part of how we design and build RentalTide. Our work covers two areas: our public website, and the RentalTide platform that operators and their customers use every day.

For both, our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the W3C. We adopt WCAG 2.2 success criteria as we update each part of the interface. We do not claim full conformance yet: some content may still fall short, and we track and fix those gaps.

    Website

Our website at rentaltide.com is public and needs no account. Here is what it offers today:

    • Keyboard navigation. Links, menus, and form controls can be reached with Tab and Shift+Tab, and the focused element always shows a visible outline.
    • Complete HTML on every page. Every page is delivered fully rendered, so its text, headings, and links are there before any script runs.
    • Headings and landmarks. Pages use a structured heading outline and page regions that screen readers can list and jump between.
    • Text alternatives. Meaningful images carry descriptive alt text. Decorative images and icons are hidden from screen readers so they do not add noise.
    • Light and dark themes. Switch themes from the navigation bar. Text and controls are designed to meet AA contrast in both.
    • Reduced motion. When your device asks for reduced motion, animations on the site stop or simplify.
    • Zoom and text resizing. Pages respond to browser zoom and larger text settings, and pinch zoom is never disabled on mobile.
    • 12 languages. The site is available in 12 languages, with a right-to-left layout for Arabic.

    Platform

The RentalTide platform covers the operator dashboard and the booking, waiver, and checkout pages that renters use. We are working toward WCAG 2.1 AA across all of it, starting with the tasks people rely on most:

    • Renters: finding availability, booking a rental, signing a waiver, and paying.
    • Operators: reading the booking calendar, checking customers in and out, and taking payments.

Our focus areas are keyboard-friendly controls, screen reader labels and announcements for content that changes, visible focus, color contrast in both themes, and forms with clear error messages tied to the field they describe.

    Operator booking sites

Operators can publish their own booking websites through RentalTide. We provide accessible templates and components, but each operator controls the text, images, and media they add and is responsible for its accessibility. If you hit a barrier on an operator's site, contact the operator, or contact us and we will pass it on. See our Hosted Website Terms.

    Known limitations

Accessibility work is ongoing. These are the areas we are still improving:

    • Some third-party components, such as payment forms, identity checks, and chat, are built and controlled by those providers. We choose accessible vendors and report problems to them, but we cannot always fix them ourselves.
    • Some videos do not yet have captions or transcripts. We are adding them.
    • Complex charts and data tables in the operator dashboard are still being given accessible text summaries.
    • Generated PDFs and document exports do not yet carry full accessibility tagging.

If you find a barrier that is not listed here, please tell us. Your report helps us decide what to fix first.
