Accessibility Statement
Last Updated: May 21, 2026 | Effective Date: May 21, 2026 | Version: 1.0
OUR COMMITMENT
RentalTide is committed to making our platform usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. We aim to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA and to meet our obligations under accessibility law in every country we serve. If anything on our site is hard to use, tell us, we will help and we will fix it.
This statement covers RentalTide's own websites and application (www.rentaltide.com and app.rentaltide.com). It supplements our Terms of Service.
1. Conformance Target
We measure ourselves against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the W3C. We treat WCAG 2.1 AA as our baseline and adopt WCAG 2.2 success criteria as we roll out interface updates. "Partially conformant" means some content may not yet fully meet the standard; we track and remediate gaps.
2. Legal Standards We Work To
| Jurisdiction | Standard / law |
|---|---|
| Canada (Ontario) | Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (WCAG 2.0 AA baseline) |
| Canada (federal) | Accessible Canada Act (ACA) and the Canadian Human Rights Act |
| United States | Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Titles II/III as applied to digital services, Section 508, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, using WCAG as the measure |
| Australia | Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth) and the Australian Human Rights Commission's WCAG-based guidance |
| New Zealand | Human Rights Act 1993 and the NZ Government Web Accessibility Standard (WCAG-based) |
Where local requirements exceed WCAG 2.1 AA, we work to the higher standard.
3. What We Have Done
Measures built into our platform include:
- Semantic HTML structure with correct headings, landmarks, and reading order
- Keyboard operability for interactive elements, with a visible focus indicator
- Text alternatives (alt text) for meaningful images and icons
- Color contrast meeting AA ratios, in both light and dark themes
- Labels and instructions for form fields, with clear, programmatically associated error messages
- Responsive, resizable layouts that support zoom and reflow to 400%
- ARIA used only where native HTML is insufficient
- Reduced-motion support that respects the operating system "reduce motion" setting
- Screen-reader testing against current versions of VoiceOver, NVDA, and TalkBack
4. Ongoing Work and Known Limitations
Accessibility is continuous. Areas we are actively improving:
- Video media: Captions and transcripts are being added to all marketing and help videos.
- Complex data tables and charts in the operator dashboard are being enhanced with accessible summaries.
- Third-party components: Some embedded third-party tools (e.g., payment, identity verification, chat) are controlled by those providers; we choose accessible vendors and report defects upstream, but cannot always fix them directly.
- PDF and document exports: We are improving the tagging of generated documents.
If you encounter a barrier not listed here, please report it (Section 6), your report helps us prioritize.
5. Operator-Hosted Sites
Rental operators can publish their own customer-facing websites through our hosted-site service. The operator is responsible for the accessibility of the content they add (text, images, media, and custom pages). We provide accessible templates, components, and guidance so operators can meet WCAG 2.1 AA, but the operator controls their own content. See the Hosted Website Terms.
